Avoiding the word "leader"

I was recently asked why I actively encourage people to avoid using the word “leader”, especially when what they actually mean is “senior executive”.
The equating of “leadership” with “senior executives” is one of three legacy conflations that inhibit the creation of future-fit organisational cultures of innovation, agility, and adaptiveness.
